Leech sucker, LEECH!

Let me express my thoughts about erman papermags in a short article. Again. I have already had this in a hugi.ger. Nevertheless.

O.K., I don't buy papermags anyways as the things in there are usually as stupid as the invention of the H-Bomb.

However, via some relation I often get papermags for free. And I really start to wonder, whether everything in our lives is REALLY about leeching. Even formerly serious papermags hook to the hype and report about leeching, leeching, leeching. And burning.

"Internet secrets - where to find MP3's"

"Illegal leeching"

"Finest wares"

"Top burning-hints"

"P2P Software check"

.....

First of all I believe that every 11 year-old kid is intelligent enough to leech his favourite games or MP3's without the advice of any mag, second it's certainly not left up to them telling about definitely illegal topics like this. It really doesn't create some serious image when you tell people how to download and exchange warez, and in the same moment you tell them how bad, evil and illegal it is.

I'm not someone to diabolize warez and stuff, we surely all have alot more values on our HDD's than we can afford. But please, this DivX, warez, DSL and ripping stuff is not something I want to read in a papermag. It's just another adjustment to the obviously lowering intelligence of nowadays computer users. I remember the early days, when the german mag "PC Welt" was something like an expert paper - with Assembler listings, hardcore OS tricks and serious articles about current developments in the computer industry. Nowadays they are one of the worst mags, telling you the same crap like all the others.

And finally, all those articles don't actually catch up the far more interesting question, why we have this hype: stone-age alike marketing strategies of software companies and our beloved music industry, that heavily tries to appear more stupid than they already are. Raising the prices of CD's is not the way, you know... (and don't tell me producing a CD costs 19,50 EUR per unit and you sell it for 20 EUR just to buy some food for your kids and your wife)

Finally, can't I expect a mag to concentrate on relevant topics, maybe because there are still some people that actually use their computers for work? Sure, "just work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", but when it's about fun, people always have been intelligent enough to get their fun without cool advices. I just realize, we didn't have hints yet where to get the latest porn. We need that.

Just let me tell again - not everything in life is about leeching. You know.
